Monday is here again....woo woo! No but really, I can't complain, I had Friday off and an amazing weekend in Houston with my dad. My weekend actually started Thursday after work because we had a big happy hour planned for our team in downtown DC. I was able to stay a couple hours, but from what I've heard I missed a crazy night...but alas, I had to leave early to meet up with dad and pack for my flight Friday morning! As we got into Houston, you could feel the city buzzing with anticipation for the Final Four games. We got into Houston early afternoon on Friday, checked into our hotel, and had a couple beers at the hotel bar before heading out to check out the area.

Best Fajitas ever |
We ate dinner Friday at El Tiempo Cantina, a restaurant recommended by a former Houston resident as the best Tex-Mex in the city. oh.em.gee. It was delicious! The margs were strong and the food was top notch. Being from VA, it's hard to get real, authentic Mexican food so I look forward to it every time I visit Texas.
Saturday morning we got up, had a nice breakfast and then headed to the Galleria for a little shopping before the games. The Galleria is a huge mall in Houston and this weekend, that's where all the action was. The VCU team and students were staying in the Westin hotel attached to the Galleria so the area was overrun with fans. After a few hours we headed back to the hotel, got ready, and headed over to the Reliant K stadium around 2:00 in the afternoon. We had tickets to the big tailgate before the games so we hung out there, listened to the band, had some beers, and chatted with some fellow VCU fans there to support the team. It's funny when you travel out of state to support your team how everyone becomes best buddies, even when you don't know them and wouldn't know them even around Richmond.
Here are some scenes from the day...

Thank you Mom for getting awesome seats! :) |
Unfortunately the Rams didn't make it to the championship {neither did Kentucky and we were rooting for them over UConn}. The Butler Bulldogs defeated them by 8 points. Sad ending to the game, but a great weekend trip with Dad!
